beyond massage; soft tissue manipulation
massage is wonderful for relaxation, stress, tight muscles. but when you’re in pain you need more. sometimes a lot more. less pain these days is due to injury but to the nature of life in modern society. hours spent driving, sitting at desks, states of perpetual stress cause distortions in muscle connective tissue. over enough time these distortions start to pull on limbs, joints, or bones. then comes pain. you don’t really know how it started but there it is! doctors will often prescribe pain killers or surgery sometimes this is warranted. I cannot tell you, though, how many times surgery has been averted through soft tissue therapy. the amount of sessions the time it takes to see results differs from person to person. but the vast majority of my clients have had dramatic results have been very pleased. the techniques education are very involved. an intimate understanding of kinesiology bio-mechanics is needed.

techniques include:
• myoskeletal
• myofacial
• resisted stretch range of motion
• neuromuscular
• deep tissue
• orthopedic

what problems do I address?
• back pain
• neck pain
• shoulder pain / frozen shoulder
• sciatica
• pelvic problems
• headache
• tmj
• range of motion
• cramping
• much, much more……

what about injury?
sometimes, hurt happens. car accident, sports injury, or something simple like bending over or twisting your torso in just the wrong way. don’t worry, you’re not a wimp. many people come to see me because of small things that create great pain. quite often the culprit of the pain is a muscle that has gone into spasm or connective tissue that has twisted as a result you feel pain. this can also cause a joint to slip out of place. it is at that time you may seek out a chiropractor. that may bring you relief but consider this for a moment. because a muscle in spasm attaches to your bone it pulls on your joints. just because a chiropractor realigns the joint doesn’t mean the cause has been dealt with. the muscle is still in spasm can keep causing you pain or keep pulling the joint out of place. a physical therapist would approach the problem by trying to strengthen muscles. the problem with this is that before a muscle is strengthened it needs to release the spasm. don’t get me wrong, chiropractors physical therapists have their place, but muscle spasm connective tissue distortions must be dealt with first.
